Due to the current situation with COVID-19 coronavirus spreading globally, Russian Fashion Council will restrict numbers of visitors at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia taking place on March 31 to April 4. There will be only up to 1,000 people attending the venue at once (current limit in Moscow is 5,000 people). Moreover, periods between shows will be extended to 1.5 hours in the evening (prime time). The Fashion Week is using an electronic registration system to monitor numbers of guests attending Manege at once. Amount of seats at every show will be reduced to 500.
All of the international program scheduled for the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia has been postponed till the next season. As early as in the end of February it was decided that visits of the international advisory board members along with Global Talents winners and POP-UP SHOP – a designer showroom that was to be participated by 120 Moscow-based designers – are to take place in Fall 2020. POP-UP SHOP was to feature workshops and sessions by Russian and international buyers and showrooms. Because of the current coronavirus situation, Russian Fashion Council cancelled 100+ visits of foreign experts, one third of whom were to come from Italian Lombardy, a region under quarantine.
Russian Fashion Council is going to enhance preventive measures against COVID-19 spreading. As recommended by Rospotrebnadzor (Federal Agency for Consumers' Rights and Human Welfare Control), a remote temperature measuring system will be installed at the entrance to Manege. In addition, the number of emergency medical teams at the event as well as the frequency of sanitary treatment of the premises will be increased. 30+ no-touch antiseptic dispensers will be installed throughout Manege. Visitors with ARVI symptoms will be advised to consult paramedics.
